Weekly Menu 4/27 - 5/3

Last week's menu got a little wacky......
Seriously, after son #2 left for Air Force Basic Training, none of us was our usual self. We have gone from a household of 5 to a house of 3 in just a few months. Our two big boys are now serving the United States government, in the Marines and the Air Force. Son #3 feels a little lost, now being the only child at home, and being only 7 at that.

So we ate very little of what was on the plan last week, thus the repeats this week. DH also travels to the state History Fair Thurs - Sat, so it will be just son #3 and me those days.

Sun~ the Marines landed at our house (son #1 and two of his friends from base)
Grilled steak & chicken, mashed potatoes, tossed salad, spinach bites, chocolate cake

Mon~ teeball game at 5:30. Roast & gravy from freezer, leftover mashed potatoes, green beans w/bacon.

Tues~ teeball game at 5:30. Leftovers, or club sandwiches

Wed~ Teriyaki chicken, pineapple, brown rice, broccoli

Thurs~ DH out of town; son #3 & I might go out to dinner, or over to my mom & dad's.

Fri~ DH still gone; teeball game at 7:00. Probably just a snack before the game.

Sat~ TBA; depends on what my husband feels like eating after being gone for two days, and whether or not the Marines are back at our house!!

Forever ago...

I started this blog.
To participate in Menu Plan Monday.
And I do plan my menus regularly, but I've been feeling the need to have some place to vent myself lately, so here I am. After months of not writing anything.
What is it about writing that is so cathartic?

I am listening to the August Rush soundtrack right now and I LOVE IT.
I love the percussive sounds of the strumming of the guitar... I love the anguish in the lyrics of JRM's songs. (He's not bad to look at either.) I love getting lost in the sounds. I love the thought that music can so inspire - I believe that. I teach it every day. I want to inspire my students the same way. Sometimes I succeed, many days I fail.

Music.
Food for my soul.
The language of my heart.
